Family Conference: Sports Program

Hello Everyone

This email is to inform everyone about the Sports Program that is going on in this year Family Conference. As many of you are aware, this year the churchs decide to formally create a sports program. Considering that most of the events require registeration before mid-June, I figured I send a general outline of the events, requirements, and etc.. If you seek more information you can look at the following link for more details: http://www.malankaraconvention.com/Program/Sports/Default.htm.

Sport Program Guidelines (Rough Outline)

Five Fields of Events: Sports, Track & Field, Group Event, Indoor Games, & Family Fun

All events except Family Fun require registration through the Church Secretary (Sabu Jacob) before Sunday, June 13, 2010. In addition, most of these events require a church representative that will coordinate the church involvement in the event.

To ensure there is involvement from various members of the participating churches, Participants may register for a single event. As a result, once registered, participants are not allowed to participate in other events except their registered event and Family Fun events.

Sport Events: Basketball, Shuttle Badminton, & Volleyball

Note: In addition, there is an MVP cash award for each of the three sports.

Basketball may have 3 players with 1 substitution player, which is played on half-court. (Rumor: Within finals, the teams are allowed up to 5 players with 1 substitution player on a full-court.)

Shuttle Badminton will be a doubles event. There will be one male team and one female team. This event has no age constrictions, and as a result, any combination between adults and youth is allowed.

Volleyball will be 5 on 5 with each team allowed 1 substitution player. This event has no age constrictions, and as a result, the team will most likely be a joint team between adults and youth.

(Rumor: All volleyball and shuttle badminton events are likely be held around Thursday and Friday and as a result participants are required to be present on these days. All other events are to be held on Saturday.)

Track & Field: Track, & Shock-Put

Track may have 1 participant (1 male & 1 female) per age group. The age groups are as follow: 04-07,  08-12,  13-19,  20-35, & 35-50

In addition, there will be a track event for priest and deacons with the age group as follow: Under 35 and Over 35

Shock-Put will have male's event and a female's event with the participants being over 16 years old. Only two participants (1 male and 1 female) from each church may be in the Shock-Put.

Group Events: Tug of War & Relay Race

Tug of War will have a team of 7 participants (one male team & one female team)

Relay Race will be a joint sex event with 2 (1 male and 1 female) under 35 and 2 (1 male and 1 female) over 35 to make a team of 4 people.
